Tucked away along the road to Valencia, in Bacong there is a little resort called Bambulo. I had the pleasure of staying there for a night or two.
It is a gated resort with only a few bungalows and they rent out a few gazebos for family parties and gatherings.
Combined with a restaurant and a swimming pool it makes the property complete.
The mix of bungalow guest and day guest make it a lively place, lucky for those not so fond of mixing with family bonding, the resort is closed for day guests on Monday and Tuesday, this gives a nice balance for those who seek rest.
At night it is a quiet places, safely guarded, gates locked. During day time you can hear traffic on the road to Valencia, specially in the restaurant and pool area.
They are strict about checking in times, but that is because they want to make sure that everything in your bungalow is absolutely perfect and they make it a very personal welcome.
I loved the flowers and the personalised banana-leaf on my bed.
The bungalow are very clean and of good size and very luxurious. Hot water shower (be a little patient, but there is actually very hot water after a while!), spacious bathroom, lots of shampoo, soap and towels.
Complimentary water for 2, coffee, tea and Milo are provided as is a water boiler.
Air con, good mattresses and pillows. Minor detail, but very important during rain season: the cottage even comes with 2 umbrellas, and emergency lights for occasional brownouts.
Wifi is fast, but there is a 300mbyte quota. You get free vouchers at the hotel bar that last 8 hours. No limits to uploading and downloading.
At the moment internet is only available in the restaurant area.
The grounds are nicely kept, lots of birds during the day, and bamboo everywhere. I love bamboo and the way they use it to create privacy among the bungalows which are situated in a seclusive area of the lot. The owner lives on the other side of the property and it all gives a feel of luxury and hospitality.
it is a little drive from Dumaguete. I had a nice stay in Bambulo Resort.
Although I missed views, there are no views, since the resort in reclusive and neither in the mountains nor the seaside. But that is just a personal thing I guess, I love to look away, when writing or gathering my thoughts.
Overall, a good place to return to some day.
