Alegro Hotel, Catbalogan City

Alegro Hotel, Catbalogan City

No one could have prepared me for the dirty town of Catbalogan. it is a mess there. The roads are dirty, there is garbage everywhere and the place seems under constant construction. Many empty building give it a run down look. In both Catbalogan and Calbayog, a nearby city, both citizens complain about the garbage, the blcoked sewers and the polluted bay, but I wonder how they handle their garbage management themselves. We have never ever seen a more dirty…

Capitaneus, Atimonan, Luzon Island

Capitaneus, Atimonan, Luzon Island

What started out as a nice stay turned into a noisy experience after a few hours. Along the highway just outside Atimonan you find Capitaneus Resort. A Filipino operated resort that also offers day tourism for walkin guests. That usually means there is a lot of loud music and people. The pool which was clear before the guests arrived was not so clear anymore afterwards. There was a lot of screaming and loud music and that continued till two at…

Gensol Plaza Hotel, Mamburao, Mindoro Occidental

Gensol Plaza Hotel, Mamburao, Mindoro Occidental

Talk about an affordable place in a sweet little town….that is what this hotel is all about. it is a quiet getaway for a few pesos. Rooms start at 800 pesos and are very basic. No hot shower, little balcony, comfortable bed. Soap, toothpaste and shampoo is provided. Cleanness can be obtain a little more in this hotel. FJ Manila Hotel, Legazpi City

FJ Manila Hotel, Legazpi City

The first thing I need to set straight about this hotel is that it is NOT in Legazpi city. It is close to Legazpi, but it is a long jeepney ride to Legazpi itself. Legazpi offers lots of restaurants and malls and is a nice place to stay. FJ Manila Hotel offers an affordable place close enough to enjoy all that. The standard rooms are just right and for those looking for a little more space there are rooms with…

CitiHotel, Hilongos Leyte

CitiHotel, Hilongos Leyte

Whoever thought of it as a good idea the build a hotel on top of a gas station must have been drunk or something. Maybe it works for the owner, but for his guests absolutely not. The whole night motorbikes without muffler pass by, the gas station is a hangout for youngster from the town and it is noisy as hell. Combine that with the endless base and drunk karaoke singing from the rooftop (karaoke)bar right above what they call…

GoHotels Tacloban and GoHotels in general

GoHotels Tacloban and GoHotels in general

After my forced excessive stay in Tacloban due to a storm I must say I’m done with GoHotels. In my earlier review on GoHotels in Bacolod with the bunch of free roaches in the room back than for the very affordable room price of 888 pesos. Nowadays they charge an average of over 1400 to 1900 pesos depending which day of the week. The rooms are so small that 1 person with luggage hardly fits in. I carry 1 dry…

Christina Resort, White Beach, Puerto Galera

Christina Resort, White Beach, Puerto Galera

Upon arrival in White beach we went immediately to Christina Resort in San Isidro (White Beach) A newly build apartment building right in front of the elementary school. When arriving in White Beach from Puerto Galera you take the first street on the left, just behind the tricycle terminal, drive up that little road until you reach the first building with a pool and a mural of Swiss mountains and snow. Although newly build, the apartment complex is already deteriorating….
