Villa Paulina Resort, San Jose, Mindoro Occidental

Villa Paulina Resort, San Jose, Mindoro Occidental

San Jose offers a great variety of resorts and hotels, but they are rather pricy. After a little bargaining we rented 2 rooms in Villa Paulina Resort. The boutique style resort looks great. The rooms are wonderfully decorated and have that ring of ancestral houses to them. but unfortunately they come with free cockroaches. And the hotel is well aware of it, for they spray the bathroom upon arrival of the guests and place the bins strategically on the drainage….

Filipa Lodge, Bulalacao

Filipa Lodge, Bulalacao

Bulalacao is a small town on the Island to Mindoro and the place where FastCat ferries departs for Caticlan (Panay) the gateway to Boracay. (for timetables of the ferry to Boracay you click here¬†) Although the owner of the FastCat ferries build a new container hotel next to the port, I decided to stay in the Filipino owned lodge a little down the road. There are a number of reasons for that: the price, the Filipino Lodge is much more…

Renting an apartment in Puerto Galera, Philippines

Renting an apartment in Puerto Galera, Philippines

After the first stage of the journey through the Philippines I arrived in Puerto Galera again. It was two years ago since I first came here. I started my adventure in October 2015 in Puerto Galera, where I did an all inclusive in Badladz Beach Resort. The benefits of an all inclusive in those days were that you can get used to the country and overcome your culture shock within save boundaries of hotel grounds. With not a lot to…

Best place to stay in Roxas, Mindoro, Philippines

There is a lot of rooms available in Roxas port and most hotels rent out rooms per hour as well, but the rate is expensive. You easily pay up to 2500 pesos for a no wifi, not clean, sober hotel room, with shared bathroom. The cheapest…

My experience in Well Beach Resort, Zamboanguita

My experience in Well Beach Resort, Zamboanguita

The access road is a nightmare, arriving there on a motorcycle I was in for a big surprise. One would think that a good access road is a golden threshold of your resort. Hugh covered private parking, but no space for guests to park. I managed to park my motor on a small strip next to the new reception area. The hotels is a quiet place, waterfront, I would not call it beach. Since there is only a small strip…

Bambulo Resort in Bacong, Dumaguete, Philippines

Bambulo Resort in Bacong, Dumaguete, Philippines

Tucked away along the road to Valencia, in Bacong there is a little resort called Bambulo. I had the pleasure of staying there for a night or two. It is a gated resort with only a few bungalows and they rent out a few gazebos for family parties and gatherings. Combined with a restaurant and a swimming pool it makes the property complete. The mix of bungalow guest and day guest make it a lively place, lucky for those not…
