Warranty Procedure, my new GoPro Hero5 Black

Warranty Procedure, my new GoPro Hero5 Black

My GoPro Hero 5 Black had a leakage while snorkeling on Siquijor Island a while ago, and a few days ago I published a blog about the procedure of returning it to GoPro under warranty. I had to wait to start the warranty procedure until I had an address I was going to stay for at least 2 weeks. For that is how long GoPro says they need to switch cameras. I can tell you: they are faster than they…

Renting an apartment in Puerto Galera, Philippines

Renting an apartment in Puerto Galera, Philippines

After the first stage of the journey through the Philippines I arrived in Puerto Galera again. It was two years ago since I first came here. I started my adventure in October 2015 in Puerto Galera, where I did an all inclusive in Badladz Beach Resort. The benefits of an all inclusive in those days were that you can get used to the country and overcome your culture shock within save boundaries of hotel grounds. With not a lot to…

Eating out in the Philippines – Money talk

Eating out in the Philippines – Money talk

Another month has passed since my last Money-Talk-Blog that was all about grocery prices. This time, like I promised I will talk about eating out in Puerto Galera. I still have no clue what is cheaper: cooking yourself or eating out. Since when you cook for yourself you need gas or electricity and there are lots of kitchen supplies like spices and oil to invest in. And since eating out can be very cheap I’m not sure it is worth…

Walking the road to Sabang

Walking the road to Sabang

After a quick drink in the ViewPoint Restaurant little half way over on the road to Sabang I walked the rest of my trip instead of taking the Jeepney or tricycle. When you stay in Puerto Galera and want to go from the town proper to Sabang you can either take a Jeepney 20 pesos (0.40 euro) or a tricycle 200/300 pesos (4/6 euro). The road to Sabang is bad. Be prepared for a bumpy ride! Specially the first part….

Sabang Beach – Puerto Galera

Sabang Beach – Puerto Galera

It is one of the dive hotspots in the world. Boats leave the shoreline every few minutes, packed with (mostly) asian people wearing dive gear, ready to explore on of the many gorgeous reefs along the Mindoro coastline. But as a beach it is not much. Buildings right up to the seaside, open gutters and bad smell are an every day thing. It must have had glorious days, you still can see it behind the outdated and badly maintained facades…
