After the first stage of the journey through the Philippines I arrived in Puerto Galera again. It was two years ago since I first came here.
I started my adventure in October 2015 in Puerto Galera, where I did an all inclusive in Badladz Beach Resort. The benefits of an all inclusive in those days were that you can get used to the country and overcome your culture shock within save boundaries of hotel grounds. With not a lot to worry about. Badladz Beach Resort was a good place to do just that.
Puerto Galera is a wide spread area and the tourist spots go from Tamaraw Falls all the way to Luca’s Italian place, where the new mountain road to Abra de Ilog is build.
It includes Sabang Beach, a world famous dive spot.
Visiting Puerto Galera second time around I saw the town and villages with more Filipino orientated eyes than the first time. No culture shock, and up for my third and last year in this country before I have to make a visa run.
It is easy to find a place to stay in Puerto Galera, specially in the low season. There are so many, many hotels, lodges and resorts. But also for the long stay it is easy to find yourself a studio or fully furnished house. All depending on what your needs are and how much money you are willing to pay.
New build property is rented out from 9,000 pesos per month up
My list of wishes are:
- lots of window and screens to keep the bugs out
- fully furnished
- gated property
- good internet signal
- close to a beach
- good access road
- parking space for the motorbike
- lots of privacy
I found, right in the centre of San Isidro, 100 meters from the famous White Beach, a new build property that rents out studio apartments for 15,000 pesos per month all inclusive.
They give free bedlinen and towels upon request and there is a swimming pool and shared outside space where you can hang out, with a bar and cooking area and a back up generator.
The studio comes with a small kitchen, a fridge, television, split air con, hot water shower, screens on all windows and nice blinds to shut the world out.
I have a corner studio on the top floor, overlooking San Isidro and in the far distance a glimpse of the ocean.
My outdoor space is a little bigger since I’m on the end of a floor with 4 apartments, Only one apartment is occupied at the beginning of the floor. No idea how my life swill look when all apartments are rent out and everybody is outdoors on their small patio.
This apartment will be my base from which I travel and explore the island of Mindoro, before I move on to other islands.
Here is a video of the interior and exterior of my rented space in Puerto Galera, White Beach.
